Swissando Jazz Club

At the end of May, the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo hosted a musical project being part of the communication campaign of the Swiss Government in Brazil. Together with the Montreux Jazz Festival, Swissando set up a program called “A Suìça encontra O Brasíl” in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the festival and its strong ties to Brazil. Beside a musical residence with the major rock bands Nação Zumbi and The Young Gods followed by two concerts, a Swissando Jazz Club got launched where Brazilians, Swiss and international musicians encountered celebrating the musical bonds and stimulating the creation of new musical bridges between nations and cultural exchange.

In order to continue the movement, we will proudly present the Swissando Jazz Club to the audience of the House of Switzerland Brazil 2016. 

For the special event dedicated to Lausanne the Olympic City and the Canton of Vaud, the Swissando Jazz Club is thrilled to invite three outstanding musicians that have been present in the Brazilian music scene for at least two decades, recording and touring extensively with top artists from Brazil and abroad.

The Swissando Trio is composed by the three distinguished artists! The guitarrist Guilherme Monteiro, based in New York, who's already played with artists like Ron Carter, Grady Tate, Lee Konitz, Randy Brecker, João Bosco, Johnny Alf. The bassist Alberto Continentino who's been on stage and in the studio with names like Marcos Valle, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, João Donato, Bud Shank. And the french drummer Stéphane San Juan who's based in Rio de Janeiro and has not only recorder with artists like Amadou & Mariam, Andy Sheppard, Bebel Gilberto, but as well with masters like Caetano Veloso, Jorge Mautner, Sibongile Khumalo.
