Zimtstern is proud to be a truly independent snowboard, skateboard, and surf wear label. Founded 1995 in Switzerland by snowboarders, skateboarders, and surfers, Zimtstern lives a unique commitment to quality, functionality, and style. Distributed throughout the world, Zimtstern remains located in the international design- and snowboarding-hub Zurich, at the heart of Europe and the Alps. With our in-house design, product development, and creative departments, we incorporate both, the inspiration and talent, to continue inventing and developing fresh ideas and styles with every collection. Thanks to our snowboarding roots and the world-class resorts at our doorstep, Zimtstern products are tested and improved continuously by our employees and team riders. In extension of our main passion, snowboarding, we bridge the snow-less seasons with skateboarding and surfing. For people working here, Zimtstern is not a lifestyle, it’s our life.
Company Profile
Zimtstern was founded in Switzerland in 1995. Our brand originated out of a simple idea; develop an alternative to the then often uninspired offering of snowboard wear. We longed for a unique European style in snowboard apparel, our two company founders Thomas Meyer and Reto Kuster, with an ache in their hearts and a twinkle in their eye, started their own thing. Transforming their passion into a business, they founded one of the very first Swiss snowboard apparel brands. This small do-it-yourself garage label developed fast into a stylistic influential brand that continues to relentlessly spread beyond its Swiss borders.
Zimtstern targets a young, athletic and demanding generation that appreciates the unconventional. Passionate snowboarders with a distinctive interest in music and art, appreciating and caring for our nature. We offer functional and unique snowboard apparel, streetwear and accessories. Each collection follows a new central theme and tells a seasonal story. Design, cut and labelling are freshly styled every season. Graphics and individuality are crucial to Zimtstern. Zimtstern stands for purity with a special attention to smart details.
At Zimtstern we benefit from the innovative spirit and creativity of our young team. We are snowboarders, fashionistas and longstanding connoisseurs of the scene.
Zimtstern attaches great importance to the careful selection of its business partners. We expect them to live up to the extraordinary Zimtstern philosophy and ideology and to communicate it to the end consumer. We cultivate the authentic image of the brand and support retail and distribution through marketing measures such as team sponsoring, advertising campaigns, PR, video and event cooperation, POP promotional material, catalogues and sponsoring of relevant events and parties.
Zimtstern focuses on continuous expansion and support of our international pro team who are closely involved with the development process. The pro team consists of Hans Ahlund (SWE), Björn Hartweger (AUT), Colin Frei (SUI), Reto Kestenholz (SUI) and Lukas Blaser (SUI). Additionally Zimtstern supports Rookies and works with a R&D Team, consisting of snowboard photographers, video producers and event/camp organizers.
Zimtstern is able to keep pace with and lead the high demands of a young, athletic customer segment with a continuously changing fashion taste. The constant success enabled Zimtstern to enter the German and Austrian markets as early as 1998. Today Zimtstern products are sold worldwide; primarily in snowboard, skate and surf shops and other sport speciality stores that provide authentic retail experience for our customers. In 2005 Zimtstern opened up it‘s first store in Munich and since September 2009 you have the chance to shop in authentic atmosphere in the Zimtstern Store Zurich.
