House of Switzerland Canada 2010 Venue Transformations Complete
“House of Switzerland Canada 2010 guests will feel as though they are visiting St. Moritz, Switzerland,” said Manuel Salchli, Director of the House of Switzerland Canada 2010. “Every sense will be indulged in the look, feel and tastes of Switzerland. Swiss details have been added to every element of the restaurants, from the exterior to the menus.”
With the iconic Swiss cross visible across the harbour in Vancouver and from the mountain in Whistler Village, the planning for the House of Switzerland Canada 2010 began over 2 years ago and includes adorning the Official Hospitality Houses with life-size icons of athletes representing Sport and the Olympic Games and with scenes associated with Switzerland including ibex, alphorns, and the world famous Swiss dairy cows. Inside, guests will look at stunning images of St. Moritz mountainous winter scenery and be treated to such Swiss favourites as fondue and raclette beginning on February 5, 2010, the official opening of both Houses.
“We have been working alongside Canadian chefs to integrate Swiss food specialties onto the menu,” said Béda Zingg, a Canadian-born Swiss Chef. “Canadian and Swiss Chefs will be working together throughout the Olympic Games, which will be a great culinary experience for everyone.”
In addition to Bridges and Mountain Club menu items, some notable Swiss specialty items will include:
· Raclette with Potatoes, Pickles & Pearl Onions
· Cheese and Chocolate Fondues
· Bündner Teller: St. Moritz Charcuterie Plate with Cheese and Pickles
· Engadine Nut Cake
· Swiss Cheese Plate with Fruit Bread
· Mountain Macaroni and Apple Sauce
· St. Moritz Taglierini Pasta with truffles
Canadian staff received special training in Swiss hospitality and will be outfitted in apparel from the renowned Swiss snowboard and streetware clothing company Zimtstern.
