




On 14 November 2011, Lord Michael Bates has arrived in Berne, more than half way through his 5000km walk from Olympia to London, and clocking the significant 2012th mile of his journey. He was welcomed by Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer in front of the Federal Palace.
Lord Michael Bates is undertaking the lone walk from the birthplace of the Olympic Games to the host city of the 2012 Olympic Games to promote the United Nations General Assembly Resolution for an Olympic Truce – “Building a peaceful and better world through sport and the Olympic ideal” – which was formally adopted by the UN General Assembly on 17 October 2011.
