Embassy of Switzerland in the UK

The Embassy of Switzerland in the United Kingdom promotes dialogue and cooperation between the two countries in a wide range of areas, from politics, economy and finance to culture, sport and scientific research.

Switzerland and the UK are long-standing allies whose common heritage of political and economic liberty forms the basis for successful cooperation to meet the challenges of globalisation. There are regular and substantial contacts between members of parliaments from both countries and the governments also work closely together to promote human rights, to tackle common security threats as terrorism and cyber crime, and to set new rules and regulations for the banking sector to secure robust growth. The Embassy is committed to encouraging and extending this dialogue through high-quality exchanges with a wide range of stakeholders.

The Embassy also serves the nearly 30,000 Swiss citizens who live in the United Kingdom and the 700,000 Swiss tourists visiting the UK every year, providing consular protection services and assistance in emergency situations, as well as maintaining close links with the many Swiss societies and clubs around the country. The Embassy’s Visa service issues more than 1,000 visas every month for non-EU citizens resident in the UK who wish to travel to Switzerland.
