Top-notch computer games

The Olympic Games are coming to London this summer. While world-class athletes compete for medals in the stadiums, House of Switzerland will host games of a different kind: Swiss Game Lounge, which presents the most innovative and creative of Swiss computer games. Quite simply the top league of Swiss game design.

The designer collective Bitforge will, for instance, introduce a game created specifically for Swiss Game Lounge. It consists of three parts: a game of dexterity, a jump’n’run game and an augmented reality game in which the virtual world is linked to information from the real world.

On 23 July, Creative Day, Swiss Game Lounge will mutate into a meeting point for game developers, giving specialists from the game industry and from universities ample opportunity to network. The aim is to initiate new projects and transnational forms of cooperation. This one-day conference is organised by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia and the city of Zurich.

The computer game scene in Switzerland is dynamic and fast-growing. Pro Helvetia’s focus is the video games’ artistic quality, and with this focus it has already launched a broad-based discussion on interactive game worlds as a new art form.

Swiss Game Lounge is a joint project of the city of Zurich, Pro Helvetia and the Haute école d’art et de design in Geneva under the lead of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Presence Switzerland.
