Les Rencontres d'Arles 2018

July 2nd to September 23rd, 2018

It's hard to believe this is already Switzerland's fourth year partnering with this annual photography festival! For us, it's a unique opportunity to meet others and present ourselves in pictures, showcasing the extent of our country's diversity and the many cultures it encompasses. Switzerland is proud and delighted to bring to Arles its photographers, schools and institutions, festivals, editors – and of course its very own meeting place, the Nonante-neuf.

The Nonante-neuf is where people get together to talk about Switzerland and photography. This year the nerve centre of Swiss photography in Arles is housed at the Croisière, with the support and participation of Geneva City and Canton. Switzerland's cultural foundation Pro Helvetia is presenting a series of seminars and discussions at the Nonante-Neuf Talks, a forum for lively discussion and exchange of ideas being held at Cosmos Arles Books.

Once again, Swiss photography and photographers feature prominently on the programme for Arles – with works by Geneva's Lucas Olivet on Poland and the lands of exile of its diaspora, Matthieu Gafsou exploring the transhumanism movement, Christophe Draeger recreating Auroville and, for the New Discovery Award, Anne Golaz, in response to the works of their predecessors René Burri, Robert Frank and Jean-Luc Godard.

Come and meet Switzerland at the Rencontres d’Arles.
