Hillbilly Moon Explosion

The Hillbilly Moon Explosion is a British-Swiss band playing Rockabilly. On stage on July 20.

Back to the roots of rock'n roll, the Swiss -British band from Zürich plays Rockabilly. A real time-machine.

The Hillbilly Moon Explosion are Emanuela Hutter on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Luke "The Puke" Weyermann on drums, Oliver Baroni on bass and lead vocals, plus Duncan James on lead guitar - and boy, do they rock'n'roll! Not forgetting the melancholy twist...

Emanuela drinks Whiskey sour and Prosecco and is a fan of French and Saunders. Her favourite singers are Patsy Cline, Irma Thomas, Billie Holiday, Alex Harvey, Dinah Washington and Julie London. She also likes Motörhead, AC/DC (only with Bon Scott) and "Once Upon a Time in the West".

Duncan enjoys a breakfast of caviar on toast, fried eggs on crumpets, coffee and orange juice. His favourite actor is Christopher Walken, his favourite books are Tom Robbins "Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates", Homer, "Illiad/Odyssey" and "Water Music" by T.C. Boyle.

Oliver's first musical influence was Harry Belafonte. Later on, he discovered Howlin' Wolf, Blind Willie Johnson, Lightning Hopkins and Steve Earle. Hitchcock and Scorsese are his favourite film directors.

Luke 'The Puke' Weyermann drinks beer and his philosophy is based on Buddy Rich, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Queens of the Stone Age, Blow Up and the Big Lebowski.

Emerging from Zurich's raucous Rockabilly scene a good decade ago, The Hillbilly Moon Explosion recently released their fourth album, "Buy, Beg or Steal". It was produced in London by Greg Townson (The Hi-Riseres) with guests Spark Philips (Demented Are Go) and Geraint Watkins on organ.

On stage on 20 July between 6pm and 9.30pm.
